Adaptive Skill-Building

Individualized, Experiential Skill Development

Ground-Based • Experiential • Individualized

At Clarity Equine, we recognize that people learn, participate, and develop skills in different ways.

Our Adaptive Skill-Building Program provides individualized, hands-on learning experiences designed around each participant’s strengths, abilities, interests, support needs, and goals.

Horses, horsemanship, farm-based activities, and practical experiences create meaningful opportunities to learn by doing.

Support should fit the person — not the other way around.

Skills We Can Build

Programming is individualized, with activities that may provide opportunities to develop:

Communication & Social Skills

Self-Expression • Relationships • Boundaries • Connection

Confidence & Independence

Choice • Responsibility • Initiative • Accomplishment

Executive Functioning

Attention • Planning • Organization • Flexible Thinking

Life & Practical Skills

Routines • Decision-Making • Problem-Solving • Daily Living

Motor & Horsemanship Skills

Coordination • Body Awareness • Sequencing • Safe Horse Handling

Why Horses?

Horses bring learning into the moment.

Horses respond naturally to movement, body language, consistency, and their surroundings. Working alongside them creates hands-on opportunities to observe, communicate, make decisions, solve problems, adjust an approach, and experience the results of our choices.

Participants are able to learn through doing, with activities adapted to their abilities and goals.

No previous horse experience is required. Most activities are ground-based. Riding may be incorporated when appropriate to the participant's goals, abilities, experience, and safety considerations.

What Could a Session Look Like?

There is no standard session that every participant follows.

A participant might measure and prepare horse feed while working on math, sequencing, and responsibility. Another might groom and lead a horse while developing communication and safe horsemanship skills. A session could also involve completing a farm project requiring planning, organization, and problem-solving.

The activity is the vehicle for learning. The participant's individual goals help determine how the experience is structured.

Who Can Participate?

The program is available to children, youth, and adults with a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and support needs.

A diagnosis is not required.

The program may be a good fit for individuals who benefit from hands-on learning, individualized instruction, additional support, smaller learning environments, repetition and practice, or opportunities to develop practical skills and independence.

Individualized From the Beginning

Every participant begins with an intake process so we can understand their:

Strengths • Interests • Goals • Learning Style • Communication • Abilities • Support Needs • Safety Considerations

From there, programming is developed around the individual rather than a3sking the individual to fit a predetermined program.
