Respite & Individual Support

Meaningful Time. Individualized Support.

Clarity Equine offers individualized respite and support in a welcoming farm environment for children, youth, and adults who benefit from additional support or supervision.

Respite provides participants with meaningful opportunities to take part in activities they enjoy while giving parents and caregivers a period of dependable support.

Our approach is centred around the individual—their interests, abilities, preferences, routines, and support needs.

What Can Respite Include?

There is no predetermined schedule that every participant follows. Activities are selected based on the individual and may include:

Spending time with horses

Grooming and basic horsemanship

Farm-based activities

Recreation and games

Arts, crafts, and creative activities

Outdoor activities

Practical projects

Daily living activities

Helping with appropriate farm tasks

Skill-building

Quiet or lower-demand activities

Activities based on personal interests

The goal is to provide safe, meaningful, and enjoyable participation rather than simply filling time.

Built Around the Individual

Some participants enjoy being active and involved around the farm. Others prefer predictable routines, quieter activities, creative projects, or one-to-one interaction.

We consider each participant's interests, communication style, independence, abilities, sensory preferences, support requirements, and safety needs when planning their time with us.

Opportunities for Independence

Everyday activities naturally create opportunities to practise useful skills, including:

Making Choices • Following Routines • Communication • Responsibility • Problem-Solving • Organization • Independence • Practical Life Skills

These opportunities are incorporated naturally into activities and everyday experiences.

Do Participants Have to Work With Horses?

No.

Clarity Equine provides a unique farm environment, but participants do not have to work with horses.

For those who are interested, horse-related activities may include grooming, leading, horse care, preparing feed, learning about equipment, or other appropriate ground-based experiences.

Activities are always selected according to the participant's interests, abilities, comfort level, and safety considerations.

Who Is Respite For?

Individualized respite may be suitable for children, youth, and adults who benefit from additional support, supervision, accommodation, or individualized participation.

A diagnosis is not required.

Before services begin, we complete an intake to learn about the participant and determine whether we can provide the appropriate level of support safely.

Supporting Participants & Caregivers

Respite should be meaningful for the participant and dependable for the people who support them.

Our goal is to provide caregivers with confidence that their family member is spending time in a structured, supportive environment where they are known as an individual, encouraged to participate, and given opportunities to enjoy their time in ways that are meaningful to them.

Getting Started

Before respite begins, we complete an intake covering relevant information such as:

Interests • Communication • Routines • Independence • Mobility • Sensory Preferences • Support Requirements • Safety Considerations

This helps us determine appropriate staffing and plan individualized support.
